Real problems. Unexpected ideas. Questions worth exploring.
What Could Work? explores fresh possibilities for problems affecting people across Indonesia. We start with issues in the news and ask a simple question: could a different approach help?
Each article develops a proposed solution, explains how it might work, and examines the assumptions behind it.
We start with a problem
We look beyond the headline to understand who is affected, what makes the problem persist, and where a change could make a difference.
News coverage provides a starting point. Where needed, we seek additional sources to understand the situation.
We look for unexpected possibilities
We use structured creative thinking to question familiar arrangements. Could an existing resource serve another purpose? Could a responsibility move to someone better placed to act? Could changing one part of a system improve the outcome?
Our goal is to develop distinctive ideas with a clear explanation of how they could help.
We investigate the reasoning
An interesting idea needs more than an appealing headline. We examine the links between the proposed action and the expected result.
What would need to be true? What evidence supports the idea? What could prevent it from working? Who might face additional costs or unintended consequences?
When the evidence reveals a weakness, we revise the proposal or explain its limits.
We make uncertainty visible
The proposals on this site are hypotheses. Their practical value may depend on local conditions, participation, resources, or testing that has yet to happen.
We aim to distinguish established facts, our own reasoning, and questions that remain unanswered. Publication does not mean a proposal has been proven effective.
How we use AI
AI tools help us develop ideas, investigate questions, and prepare drafts. Drafts go through human editorial review before publication.
AI can make mistakes, and human review can miss them. We welcome corrections, relevant evidence, and thoughtful challenges to our reasoning.
The conversation stays open
An article is a starting point for further exploration. Readers with local knowledge, practical experience, or a different perspective can help an idea improve.
